Urs notes that creators are increasingly using TikTok’s algorithmic discovery abilities to grow their audiences. TikTok’s recent addition of longer, three-minute videos is a boon for many kinds of creators interested in leveraging the platform, including gamers and other Twitch streamers. “Streamlabs better resolve this entire thread of issues or i’ll be asking them to take my face off the platform + look to use another donation service,” she wrote on Twitter. The Lightstream tweet was later shared by OBS, the provider of open source software for video recording and live streaming.

As more of a payment manager than a payment processor, Streamlabs does have some built-in distance between it and the things its products are used for, leaving moderation to payment processors like PayPal. Established streamers grow their audiences easily but anybody just getting started usually has to slog through long stretches of lonely Stardew Valley sessions with only the occasional viewer popping in to say hi. The idea behind Crossclip is to make it easier for streamers to build audiences on other social networks that have better discoverability features, subcommunities and tags to make that process less grueling. If you’ve been casually following the gaming industry and checking out upcoming video games for the past decade or so, you’ve no doubt heard the term cross-platform come up.

In that moment, it almost feels good — like in the days of the SNES when the game would chug when too many particles were on screen — and yet in the back of my mind, I knew it would be used as a talking point for the power of the Switch 2. “Streamlabs OBS is built on top of the OBS open-source platform; Streamlabs OBS is also open source, and our code is publicly available.

It sure picked a heck of a time to announce this integration.

If you’re into live-streaming video games, you’ve probably heard of Streamlabs. They make a popular, free software tool for overlaying content on top of whatever game you’re playing, allowing streamers to pop everything from sponsorship logos to donation alerts on top of their video. Streamlabs, now owned by Logitech, has released a few useful products in recent months. In February, the company launched Willow, its own link-in-bio tool with built-in tipping. In May, Streamlabs deepened its relationship with TikTok — an emerging hub for all kinds of gaming content — adding the ability to “go live” on TikTok into its core livestreaming platform, Streamlabs OBS.

If the streamer also has Cloudbot enabled, Safe Mode will restrict chat to emote only and either follower-only or sub-only mode, preventing hate raiders from filling chat with harassing messages. Finally, Safe Mode will disable chat alerts for followers and clear chat history, preventing raiders and spammers from using followers’ messages against the streamer. The Streamlabs website has details on how to enable Safe Mode within the client. The program is in beta right now, but it’s expected to expand at the beginning of next year. That said, streamers can log into their Streamlabs accounts and schedule their first charity streams now.

The last thing players want to see is the second major release for the system already pushing the console to the limits. According to the video from Moore’s Law Is Dead, the AMD Zen 6 chip that he believes will be powering the PS6 is codenamed Magnus. This chip will supposedly run on 11 CPU cores split into 3 Zen 6 and 8 Zen 6 C cores. He goes into much greater detail about things like the 264 mm squared graphics die and 384-bit memory bus, but the highlights are how much more efficient the memory transfer will be and the increased number of cores.

Called Safe Mode, the setting will adjust a streamer’s chat and clear any queued alerts in order to prevent a streamer from being spammed with fake followers and receiving hateful messages in chat. The mode is available today for all Streamlabs users and works with Cloudbot, Streamlabs’ Twitch chat bot. As The Verge notes, that makes Streamlabs Creator Subscription a more appealing option than Twitch’s built-in service, which takes a 50 percent cut from the subscription fees streamers get. Especially since Streamlabs’ new tipping tool can be directly integrated into its popular OBS software suite anyway. The OBS software can be used to stream not just on Twitch, but also on YouTube, Facebook and TikTok.

To ensure smooth and professional brand integrations, Streamlabs provides widgets, pre-built scenes, and Cloudbot commands, all designed to make brand integration seamless, professional, and easy to execute, even for those new to partnerships. The original Switch was underpowered from the start, and certainly pushed well beyond its limits in the eight long years it was on the market before the Switch 2. The early years weren’t too bad, with Nintendo first party games typically running perfectly fine, but near the end even Tears of the Kingdom started to make the poor Switch buckle.
